West Coast Trip
The beginning of February found me making my way up the West Coast on the coastal Highway 101. My friends Jimi and Rome and I flew out west to present some recent research at a conference. Jimi and I decided to take the long way home and drive up the coast all the way to Seattle. Along the way we met old and new friends, saw some amazing things, and had loads of fun. Even though we spent a week on Pacific time, I realize that I need to spend a lot more to see even a fraction of what there is to do out there! I might try to spend a month out that way this summer. I left some of my heart in San Francisco, I was inspired and entranced by the beautiful landscape, and Seattle is nothing but great!

Hey! I didn’t know you were doing this! Doug and I just got back from a long weekend in San Francisco. It was my third time there and his first. I do just love love love that city- it’s perfect! Remember, I’m out here now next time you venture this way. My dad lives in Topanga (the mountains above Malibu) and Doug lives about an hour from there in Oxnard (40 minutes south of Santa Barbara). I found the best bars in San Francisco too- NorthStar has been there for over a hundred years and has a front porch setting inside so you can just chill out and drink beer. Such a dive! Did you get to do Alcatraz? We just did it yesterday, and it is so fascinating.
Also, Jessica Schang’s apt. burned down because her boyfriend tried to be romantic. Did you see the stuff on Facebook? How terrible. Miss you! Bye!
Hey Shawn!
I am thinking of moving out to San Fran for law school! I keep hearing how wonderful it is, and I plan on doing a road trip across the States to get there, stopping wherever I please then hitting Burning Man in Nevada in the end of August. Well, at least I will have less stuff to move (I see that Kristi informed you of my sad, sad story). Something good must come of this all :). We’ll have to catch each other if we’re in the area at the same time. And I’ll have to stop by and see Kristi too! Have fun!
